Thank you for your interest in participating with the Santa Clarita Valley LGBTQ Center. Our mission is to provide LGBTQ individuals and community social, educational wellness and supportive services. This work would not be possible without the support of the community volunteers who serve on our governing board and committees.

Applicants should:

  • Have a demonstrated history of leadership

  • Have a willingness and the time to meet and work as a member of the Board of Directors

  • Must have at least 2 years of documented professional experience and/or 3 years of documented entrepreneurial experience.

  • Have experience in strategic planning, organizational leadership, fundraising, event planning, or community outreach

  • Willing to contribute annually to support the organization (includes personal giving and donations from friends and business associates within the context of fundraising events or otherwise)

Role Description:

The Social Media & Communications Manager will help raise awareness of the organization and introduce our services to a wider audience by developing our communications strategy and managing the organization’s communications channels and digital platforms.

Duties:

  • Publish a variety of engaging digital content aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and tone of voice. 

  • Create, post, and share high-quality, compelling, and relevant content about the Organization, LGBTQ+ news, and mission-related news via social media channels.

  • Develop and execute social media campaigns for key days, themes, and priority upcoming content.

  • Lead digital execution across email, website, and social media of fundraising and engagement campaigns throughout the year.

  • Respond to DMs with the partnership of the Committee Chair.

Skills Required:

  • Strong communicator, with excellent written, presentation, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong aesthetic instincts for digital layouts and publishing and an exceptional eye for detail; a keen understanding of major social media platforms’ tools and distinct uses.

  • Must be a creative and strategic thinker with good judgment and the ability to make independent decisions in a changing environment.

  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of best practices for writing and publishing on different platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram).
